Getting started
Build Helix from source, run it and join from Minecraft.
Helix has no releases yet, so you run it from source. This takes a few minutes.
What you need
| Tool | Version |
|---|---|
| Go | 1.26 or newer |
| Git | Any recent version |
| Minecraft: Bedrock Edition | 1.26.60, the version Helix follows |
Run the server
Clone the engine and start it:
git clone https://github.com/helix-bedrock/helix
cd helix
go run ./cmd/helix
Helix opens the world in worlds/Bedrock level, the same folder layout BDS uses. Any BDS world
can be copied there, and worlds Helix saves open in BDS again.
The server listens on port 19132, the usual Bedrock port. It runs in online mode, so players sign in with their Microsoft account as on BDS.
Join from Minecraft
- Open Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and go to Play, then Servers.
- Add a server with the address of the machine running Helix (
127.0.0.1if it is the same computer) and port19132. - Join it.
Options
| Flag | What it does |
|---|---|
-debug |
Logs every packet players send, and other details |
-testcmds |
Lets anyone use /gamemode, for in-game testing |
go run ./cmd/helix -debug
Found something different from vanilla?
That is a bug. Open an issue and say what BDS does and what Helix does instead.
